(KNOX) – The man killed Saturday night near Grand Forks when his vehicle was struck by a train has been identified by law enforcement.
The highway patrol said that approximately 10 p.m. Saturday, Scott Wahlstrand, 76, of Grand Forks was in his Chevrolet Equinox, facing south on the railroad tracks located northwest of the intersection of 16th Street Northeast and 17th Avenue Northeast.
Wahlstrand was killed when his vehicle was struck by a train that was traveling eastbound.
His vehicle was dragged approximately 60 feet before coming to rest along the railroad tracks.
Preliminary information suggests that Wahlstrand had a sudden medical episode before the accident.
