(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Police Department is telling vendors about a scam online going around that seems to be focused on people getting ready for things that happen in the summer, like fairs.
Grand Forks police said that a person contacted them about a disbelieving social media post promoting event space with features such as free Internet.
Police said that it is most likely a scam aimed at taking funds from vendors through misleading event registrations.
The Grand Forks Police Department said that the same type of post has shown up in other states.
Police are advising vendors to verify the legitimacy of happenings when contacted through social media.
