(KNOX) – With the City of Grand Forks potentially buying lots at the corner of Washington Street and DeMers Avenue for the fire marshal office, there is a windfall that comes with the purchase.
There are three billboards that come with the land.
Grand Forks Fire Chief Gary Lorenz says there are 28 years left on the lease with the possibility of the city getting about $600,000 over that time.
“In 2025 those three signs, the income was $14,200, approximately,” Lorenz says.
The land is near Fire Station Number 1.
There is a 52-year lease of the billboards on the lots. If the City of Grand Forks buys the land they would get what is left of the lease.
