
(KNOX) – Hundreds of Arctic Cat employees at the Thief River Falls plant will soon be unemployed after the company announced widespread layoffs.
In a letter to the Department of Employment and Economic Development, Textron, which owns the Minnesota-based powersports manufacturer, said about 385 employees will be laid off, starting May 8.
The letter also says “changing business needs require us to reduce our workforce at the location permanently.
The announcement come just months after operations were suspended in Thief River Falls and Saint Cloud.
Arctic Cat was established as a snowmobile manufacturer in 1962.
