(KNOX) – Scammers imitating bail bondsmen are at the front of a scam in Polk County.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office recently received information of scammers contacting residents and claiming a family member is in legal trouble and they need money. The scammers are primarily targeting elderly residents.
The “bail bondsmen” sometimes show up in person to collect the money and other times request money by mail.
If you receive a similar call, or you suspect you are a victim of this scam, contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at 218-281-0431.
