(KNOX) – According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol at approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday a semi hauling a trailer was northbound on Interstate 29 near mile marker 50, near Oxbow in Cass County.
The truck and trailer became fully engulfed in flames, and the side of the trailer split open. Interstate 29 northbound was shut down at this location and a detour was provided for northbound traffic.
No one was injured in the fire.
Interstate 29 northbound was temporarily closed from Exit 50 to Exit 54.
Northbound traffic was detoured to County Road 1.
Removal of debris from the fire took several hours.
Other agencies involved in this incident include the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Southern Valley Fire and Rescue, Kindred Fire and Rescue, and the ND Department of Transportation.
The incident remains under investigation by the ND Highway Patrol.
At approximately 01:30 a.m. on January 5, one lane of Interstate 29 northbound was reopened as the debris were being removed.
