(KNOX) – An unattended space heater is being blamed for a trailer home fire in East Grand Forks.
The East Grand Forks Fire Department says crews were called to the home around 1 p.m. Sunday. They say smoke alarms were operating.
Firefighters found light smoke coming from the home and put the fire out. All the residents made it out safely, but have been displaced…and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The East Grand Forks Fire department would like to remind citizens that space heaters are a common cause of house fires and should be used safely.
• Never leave space heaters unattended
• Do not use space heaters within 3 feet of combustibles.
