(KNOX) – National Seat Belt Day was created in 2019 by the Governors Highway Association, Volvo and Uber to commemorate the invention of the three-point seat belt in 1959.
National Seat Belt Day is observed annually on November 14 to encourage drivers to buckle up.
In North Dakota, the date falls in the middle of a Click It or Ticket campaign that will enforce the state’s primary seat belt law through December 12.
No other violation is required for a driver to be pulled over by law enforcement and issued a seat belt citation. The law also requires all occupants to wear a seat belt, regardless of where they are sitting in the vehicle.
This campaign is part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roadways.
