An ammonia leak at the JR Simplot plant on Friday prompted a brief shelter in place order for area residents. The Grand Forks Fire Department was notified on the incident around 7:30 p.m. When crews arrived on scene they were informed that all Simplot employees had evacuated safely. The leak was contained and the order was lifted several hours later. There were no injuries.
