Injury accident backs up morning traffic on Gateway

(KNOX) – Eastbound traffic on Gateway Drive was redirected for about 35 minutes this morning following a two-vehicle crash at the junction of North 42nd Street.
Just before 9 a.m., the driver of a westbound 2001 Chevrolet Geo Prism attempted to make a left turn onto 42nd Street
There was an uninvolved semi-truck and trailer that was making a left turn to go northbound on No. 42nd St. and the driver of the Chevy Prism stated this obstructed her view and she did not see the a 2020 GMC Van that was eastbound on Gateway Drive.
Michaela Sinkevich of Grand Forks was issued citations for Failure to Yield at a Controlled Intersection and for No Liability Insurance. Sinkevich was transported to Altru by ambulance for treatment.
The driver of the van is Matthew Mortrud, from Fargo. Both vehicles were towed from the accident scene.
