EGF incentivizes search for bus drivers

It’s not a critical shortage but to ensure the East Grand Forks School system has enough bus drivers to maintain all routes the school board will offer employees a $500 dollar bonus if they recommend a driver that sticks with District 595.

Board chair Brandon Boespflug says if the recruitment incentive proves too successful the board can always rescind the program. Boespflug says there are some stipulations.  “Bring a bus driver down and they drive 90 days both a.m. and p.m. shifts.  We know we have difficulties finding bus drivers.”

In other school news Interim Superintendent Bryan Hackbarth says he plans to meet with East Grand Forks Police Chief Mike Hedlund in the coming days to discuss getting SRO’s back in the classroom. Hackbarth says there’s nothing formal to announce just yet – but he’s optimistic things are moving in the right direction.
