DSU looking for input on campus changes

By Doug Barrett Aug 11, 2023 | 8:22 AM

A proposed reorganization of Dickinson State University would streamline nine academic departments into four schools. DSU administration is currently soliciting feedback from faculty on the plan with a goal of reducing the university’s expenses by over $1 million dollars per year.

President Steve Easton says eliminating low-enrollment academic majors combined with the recent revision of the Provost and Vice-Provost positions frees up teaching resources for the classroom.

Once final decisions are made – students affected by program elimination will be notified. Easton says DSU will work to provide students options to pursue other programs on campus, teach-out options, or in some cases transfer to other institutions to finish their degree.

DSU enrollment last fall totaled 1,473.
