Shooting leaves juvenile dead in Fargo (Update)

Update 4:10 PM Tuesday:

Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski has provided the following statement related to this ongoing investigation:

“The Fargo Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division continues to work on active leads and is dedicating substantial resources to the investigation of this incident. We are able to confirm the decedent was a 16-year-old male and his family has been notified. As more information becomes available for public consumption, we will assuredly release those details. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Fargo Police Department.”

A shooting in Fargo last night (Monday) has left a juvenile male dead.

Police were dispatched to the 4400 block of 9th Avenue South around 11:20 p.m. on a call of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they discovered the boy deceased from a gunshot wound. A weapon was found lying on the ground next to him.

Fargo police say the initial investigation suggests several individuals were involved in an altercation and later fled the scene.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the FPD. No other information is being released at this time.
