In the wake of concerns over the buyout for NDSU President Dean Breschani, a House Appropriations subcommittee has added an amendment to the higher education funding bill – that will make a few changes in how the buyouts are handled.
Bismarck Republican Representative Mike Nathe chairs the Education and Environment section of House Appropriations. “Future buyouts would have to be reviewed not only by the Higher Ed Board but the emergency commission. Once it’s reviewed there it would go to the budget section where the legislature can take a look.”
Some lawmakers have raised concerns over what they called the “golden parachute” Breschani received.
