Loose moose in GF leaves town

By Doug Barrett Oct 19, 2022 | 8:58 AM

A loose moose reported running around Grand Forks on Tuesday managed to make it out of town…safe.

Grand Forks police say initial calls put the animal wondering around the 900 block of 13th Avenue South around 6:30 a.m. Other sightings had the moose running across the 700 block of South Washington and near the Boden on DeMers Avenue. Later reports put the critter near Columbia Mall.

Law enforcement encouraged residents to stay away from the moose to allow it to venture out of town on its own.

Jim Jobe of North Dakota Game and Fish says it’s not unusual to see wild animals in town because of the natural river corridor north and south of the city.

By late Tuesday morning the moose was spotted south of Grand Forks and continuing on a path away from the city.
