By Doug Barrett Mar 1, 2022 | 1:37 PM

Over 100 people turned out in Grand Forks this afternoon (Tuesday) in a show of support for the people of Ukraine.

Russia’s invasion of the country has entered its sixth day, with Russian forces stepping up their attacks on several cities.

Mayor Brandon Bochenski told the gathering that it breaks your heart to see what they people in the Ukraine are going through.  Bochenski says he is familiar with the region going back to his playing days in the KHL.

Ukranian foreign exchange student “Marta” says she loves her country and is proud of the soldiers fighting for freedom.  Marta says the only thing the Ukrainian people want is to “live peaceably.”

The “Voices for Ukraine” event was held at Calvary Lutheran Church.
