The Grand Forks council received a sneak peek into planned infrastructure improvements last night (Monday) needed to bring a corn milling project to the city.
The Fufeng Group is looking to set up shop in north Grand Forks. A staff report suggests needed sewage lines…raw water needs…street upgrades…and a wastewater pump station could cost upwards of $100 million dollars.
The city is also looking to annex the property on which the project will be built. Council President Dana Sande says he anticipates some adjacent business owners will be unhappy with that move so it will be important to communicate with everyone who will be impacted.
The company is expected to pay for upgrades through utility fees as part of a development agreement in the works between the two sides.
