GF schools review mask guidelines

By Doug Barrett Aug 6, 2021 | 8:29 AM

The back to school plan recommends masks for students and teachers under a staff report going to the Grand Forks School Board Monday night.

The administrative recommendation is based on recent CDC guidelines and local COVID data.  It comes as the Grand Forks health dashboard remains “green” or low risk for transmission.  However…the CDC transmission indicator moved Grand Forks from “moderate” to the “substantial” level on Thursday.

Mask use has been optional for summer school students in Grand Forks.  The district reports two positive cases.  The staff report says masks will be recommended as long as the county remains in the substantial level for transmission.

The North Dakota Health Department reported four new cases of COVID-19 in Grand Forks County on Thursday.   The active case count is up to 47.
