Accident between ambulance and truck leaves two dead

A T-bone style crash between an ambulance and a dump truck in Itasca County (MN) has left two people dead.

The Minnesota Highway Patrol says the accident occurred at an intersection along Highway 57 on Tuesday.  The H-P identified the victims killed as 51-year old Troy Boettcher of Warba (MN) and 17-year old Joseph Latimer of Grand Rapids (MN). Both were in the ambulance.  The ambulance driver – 28-year old Kimberly Hake of Cohasset (MN) – suffered life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the truck driver – 67-year old Jeffery Ekholm – also suffered life-threatening injuries.  The crash remains under investigation.
