Former wide receiver Travis Toivonen was signed by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday morning following a workout with the team. He will join the team’s 90-man roster entering minicamp this week.
Toivonen had 139 catches for 1,719 yards and 13 touchdowns in four seasons with the Fighting Hawks, including 48 catches for 684 yards and seven scores as a senior in 2019. He helped UND reach the postseason in 2016 and 2019, the first two appearances for the program in its Division I era (2008-present). He went undrafted in 2020 and then earlier this year signed with the Fan Controlled Football League. Most recently, Toivonen worked out at the University of Minnesota’s Pro Day in April.
The Red Wing, Minn., native becomes the second active player on an NFL roster for the Fighting Hawks, joining Kenny Golladay (2012-13) on the New York Giants. Toivonen’s teammates, Mason Bennett, Brady Oliveira and Tyron Vrede, are currently playing in the CFL.
Toivonen ranks third in UND’s DI era in career receptions (139), yards (1,719) and touchdowns (13).
