GF schools hope to replace and update camera system

By Doug Barrett May 24, 2021 | 8:29 AM

The Grand Forks school system is planning to use a $535,000 dollar grant to upgrade hundreds of surveillance cameras in schools throughout the district.  The money from the North Dakota Homeland Grant program will boost security on elementary…middle…and high school campuses.  The district has secured a vendor for the cameras which will be managed under a single data system.

School board members tonight (Monday) are expected to approve an agreement for School Resource Officer Services for the 2021-22 school year.  The joint program with the City of Grand Forks will cost the district around $173,000 dollars – or about $5,000 dollars over this year’s plan.  The board and GFPD split the salary and benefit costs for the five SRO’s.
