3-vehicle accident on I-29 sends 1 to hospital

A semi driver from Texas faces multiple charges after a three-vehicle crash that injured a pickup driver in Grand Forks today (Thu).

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened shortly before 11 AM a half-mile north of the 32^nd Avenue South exit.

A northbound Kenworth struck the trailer of a northbound Mack truck that just entered the road.

As the Mack pulled off to the right shoulder, the Kenworth entered the median… struck a high-tension cable barrier… and continued north along the barrier.

The southbound pickup went into the median as an evasive action when it appeared the Kenworth would enter the southbound lanes.

The front of the Kenworth struck the front of the pickup as the Kenworth came to a stop against the cable barrier.

The pickup driver, 33-year-old Christopher Swenson of Bismarck, was transported to Altru with minor injuries.

Troopers say the Kenworth driver, 54-year-old Bryan Foos of Mobeetie, Texas, faces charges of DUI, possession of alcohol, care required and illegally carrying a concealed weapon.

Foos was pulling a trailer with alcoholic beverages. He was not injured, nor was the Mack driver, 60-year-old Glen Bergquist Jr. of Grand Forks.

Traffic on I-29 was reduced to one lane in each direction for about three hours.
