GFPD investigating accidental shooting

Grand Forks police are investing an accidental shooting that left one person injured.
Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of S 34th St around 8:16 p.m.  Initial investigation revealed a shotgun was unintentionally discharged in a parking lot while the operator was attempting to place a lock on the trigger. The gun was in the trunk of a car when it went off.  The discharged round went through the side of the trunk and into the victims leg. The gun operator and the victim were related.

The injured male was transported to Altru Hospital with a wound that appeared to be non-life threatening.  No further injuries were reported.  

The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by members of the Grand Forks Fire Department and Altru paramedics.
