A Sunday night police pursuit has landed two people in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.   Officers of the GFPD responded to a theft report at the Walmart store on 32nd Avenue South shortly after 10:00 p.m.   A witness followed the suspect vehicle until police located it at Stamart on North 47th Street.

At that point the vehicle drove off…ran a red light…and headed west on Highway 2.  Authorities say the driver attempted to run officers off the road.  The suspect later turned around on Highway 2 and proceeded to head east.  That’s when the vehicle struck a marked patrol unit and became disabled.

According to police the female driver – Rani Howard – faces charges of fleeing…reckless endangerment…driving under suspension…and multiple warrants.  A male passenger was identified as Isaiah Wise Spirit.   He was arrested for false information to law enforcement and drug related charges.

No law enforcement members were injured during the incident.
