The cause of the January 9th fatal accident in downtown Grand Forks is likely the result of a medical emergency suffered by one of the drivers.
Grand Forks police have completed their investigation into the four vehicle crash that left three people dead. Authorities say toxicology reports on the driver of the striking vehicle did not show alcohol in the blood stream. The report goes on to say that 21-year old Jenessa Kelley likely suffered a medical issue prior to – or during – an initial accident in East Grand Forks (MN).
Police say Kelley was traveling through downtown Grand Forks at a high rate of speed prior to the crash near 5th and DeMers.
52-year old Laura Van Erem of Fertile (MN) and 72-year old Nancy Sand of Fertile (MN) also died during the accident.
