North Dakota’s risk level for coronavirus dropped from “yellow” to “green” today (Friday) with active case counts falling. It’s estimated that around 13% of North Dakota’s population has tested positive for COVID-19 since the state of the pandemic. Health officials admit that isn’t a true indicator of how many people have come down with the virus. NDSU Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Paul Carson told members of the North Dakota Board of Higher Education with a strong testing program the state is probably has a rate between 25% and 40%.
Carson says based on current vaccine allocations it could be May before everyone in the so-called Tier 1-B group is vaccinated. He says ramped up production and additional vaccines will speed the timeline up.
As of today (Friday) North Dakota has administered 91,823 doses of vaccine – including 9,643 in Grand Forks County.
