The City of Grand Forks has locked up county support for tax breaks to secure four large construction projects.
Developers are seeking financial incentives to renovate the St-John’s Block…Lyons Auto Redevelopment… Memorial Village…and the Beacon. All told the projects total over $100 million dollars. The financial requests include both up front assistance through bond issuance and property tax exemptions.
City Administrator Todd Feland told county commissions on Tuesday that the various plans meet state policy requirements and local taxing entities now have to decide the merits of each request.
The school board is expected to vote the issue up or down next week.
The city council has scheduled a public hearing on the plan February 1st.
