GFFD responds to Sunday attic fire

By Doug Barrett Dec 26, 2021 | 9:48 PM

The Grand Forks Fire Department extinguished an attic fire Sunday afternoon.

The G-F-F-D responded to 1716 1st Avenue North for a report of smoke in the attic area.  When crews arrived on scene they observed light smoke coming from the roof vents.  Fire teams gained access to the attic and found smoldering insulation.  The cause of the fire was electrical in nature.  Crews spent about two hours performing salvage and overhaul operations in the attic area.

GFFD would like to remind homeowners not to overload electrical circuits and have working smoke detectors on every level of your home.
