(KNOX) – Grand Forks Air Force Base lockdown has been lifted as of 4:35 p.m. and normal operations have resumed.
Just after 1:00 p.m., security forces personnel received a report of a single gunshot near the medical clinic and base exchange.
Out of an abundance of caution, they issued lockdown procedures to respond to the scene.
No injuries were reported, and no source of the sound was located during a thorough door-to-door sweep… which concluded late Tuesday afternoon, providing ‘all clear’ just before 5 p.m.
Grand Forks Air Force Base leadership would like to thank local law enforcement, emergency responders and the school district for providing fast response.
