MN Tribes secure electric grant dollars

The Red Lake Nation is one of three Minnesota Tribes slated to receive federal funding to help connect homes to clean electricity – including homes previously not connected to electricity at all.
The announcement is being made by U.S. Senator Tina Smith and Senator Amy Klobuchar who say the investment will create a brighter future and investment in Indian Country.
The Red lake Nation will receive $600,000 dollars under the Tribal Electrification Program. The Red Lake community is expected to use the funding to developing a robust planning process to coordinate energy improvements over the next five years.
