The University of North Dakota is clarifying the timeline for razing the Hyslop Sports Center – and the closure of the pool.
UND and community leaders have been working on a plan to help bridge the gap between closing the pool permanently and the opening of a new multiuse indoor recreational center south of the Alerus Center.
As it stands right now the Hyslop complex will come offline at the end of this year. The Hyslop pool will remain operation through March 2025 serving local high school teams and other public aquatics activities. Following the 2024-25 swimming/diving season the pool will close and the building will come down to make way for a new STEM education center. (Science…Technology…Engineering…and Mathematics)
All aquatics activities at Hyslop will then shift to Central High School’s indoor pool — if it’s deemed fit to hold water.
The new aquatics facility is targeting a Spring 2027 opening date.
