Despite a petition rejecting the reconstruction of a stretch of 10th Avenue North property owners will likely see some sort of project down the road.
Nearly 70% of the benefitting properties signed the petition forcing the Grand Forks council to take it off then 2024 construction list. The low bid of $473,046 dollars was nearly 15% over engineer estimates.
Council President Dana Sande says the street is in bad shape and needs work. Sande says he would be curious to find out why property owners opposed the project.
City Engineer Al Grasser says it may be too late to alter the project this year – but it could be added to a mill and overlay list in 2025.
The road in question was constructed in 1929. Records indicate that it was overlaid with asphalt in 1999.
