The Grand Forks Salvation Army kettle at Scheel’s recently collected its first gold coin of the giving season.
Captain Ross Anderson said the gold coin….valued at $2,000…was dropped in the kettle on Tuesday, December 19.
The Salvation Army held its traditional fundraising event Saturday, December 16 at Scheel’s… where every twenty dollar bill was matched with another $20.
Captain Anderson said $540 in twenty dollar bills fit through the kettle slot…and a generous donor gave another $1,000 toward that match.
