The Grand Forks MPO Executive Board adopted a 2050 Transportation Plan on Wednesday that includes the inner-city bridge in the final document.
The board faced a late January deadline for submitting the report which is updated every five years. The 2050 plan contains numerous street and highway projects – but the inner-city bridge generated the most discussion. The Grand Forks council was looking to pull it from the master plan – while East Grand Forks supports it.
The threat of losing – or having federal funding frozen for future projects – ended up being the deciding factor in passing the Street and Highway Plan. The report was approved on a 6-2 vote.
