Grand Forks may get some additional funding to help pay the bill towards a South End Drainway Study. The analysis will help ensure property continues to fall within the guidelines needed to avoid mandatory flood insurance coverage.
Under a cost share agreement with the North Dakota State Water Commission the projected cost to the city would be just over $493,000 dollars.
City Engineer Al Grasser says certain drainage assumptions used in the original Army Corps of Engineer flood project may not be reflective of current conditions.
Grasser says average precipitation amounts have gone up since the original study.

In other action the council gave preliminary approval to the granting of four holiday hours to city employees. The time off is designed as a “thank you” to staff for work done during the past year. As of July 1st 94% of employees had utilized the 2022 Holiday Hours.
