Officials in Minnesota’s Beltrami County say a meteor was likely not the cause of a bright flash and loud “explosion” sound Monday night.
The County’s Emergency Management Director Christopher Muller says numerous reports came in around 6:40 PM of a flash in the sky and an explosion sound that were seen and heard across the southern part of the County.
After checking the area, analyzing video, talking to witnesses, and consulting with a NASA scientist, Muller said it was determined that a meteor is unlikely to be the source.
Muller added, there were no reports of any damage or any objects that made it to the ground. He said, unless there are significant developments, he believes the case is closed.
