Permit parking rates for both the Central and Corporate Parking Ramps are slated to go up next year.
The Grand Forks Council reviewed the latest parking rate plan at last night’s (Monday) Committee of the Whole meeting. The city hired Interstate Parking in April to manage the municipal parking system. A review of the fee schedule shows rates in Grand Forks have not changed since 2015 and are below other cities around the state.
In addition the ramps are in need of some repairs with the Central bill pegged at around $284,000 dollars and the Corporate Ramp estimated at $682,000.
Deputy City Planner Andrea Edwardson says demand for downtown parking is also going up with new developments such as the Olive Ann Hotel and Franklin on 4th nearing completion.
General spaces will jump from $40 to $55 dollars for the Central Ramp – and $40 to $50 at the Corporate Ramp. Reserved 24/7 parking will be $120 and $110 dollars respectively.
