Despite a series of meetings and field trip to view the site firsthand a working group failed to come up with a recommended snowmobile route through the Greenway.
As a result the Grand Forks council gave preliminary approval to reverting to last year’s map which bans sleds through the south end of the recreational area.
Council President Dana Sande says it’s time to move on from the conversation. “I don’t have an appetite for going down this path any further.”
City Administrator Todd Feland says the working group looked at a lot of different scenarios during their discussions. “We haven’t been able to identify a route that would be acceptable.”
The council is expected to give final approval to the existing route at its next meeting.
