Expect to see a peddle pub roaming the streets of downtown Grand Forks next spring.
The city council gave final approval last night (Monday) to an ordinance allowing patrons of the multi-passenger bikes to consume alcohol as long as a designated driver steers the vehicle. Supporters say it’s another tourism tool.
Council President Dana Sande says he supports the idea because the city should be open minded and willing to try new things. “I am concerned the peddle pubs will be going too slowly during peak times on our bridge downtown so hopefully it doesn’t disrupt traffic.”
The multi-passenger bicycle would travel at a max speed of 6 mph.
Mayor Brandon Bochenski says changes can always be made. “We certainly have the opportunity to make adjustments as needed.”
The East Grand Forks council will consider a peddle pub ordinance when they meet tonight (Tuesday).
