North Dakota’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is heating up for another cold weather season.

Applications for the upcoming 2023-2024 heating season will be accepted through May of next year. Last year the program helped about 14,280 qualifying North Dakota households by providing an average of $1,409 dollars in assistance.

In addition to heating costs, LIHEAP may also assist with weatherization services such as home insulation and weather stripping around doors and windows; furnace cleaning, repair or replacement; and chimney inspection and cleaning.

Emergency assistance is also available to assist with fuel co-payments during unexpected financial hardships, offer financial support for furnace replacements, help prevent shut offs and disconnects, and provide essential consumer goods like temporary heating or cooling devices.
