GF schools: Remote learning & storm days

Grand Forks school officials hope they don’t have to use them – but history suggests storm days will likely be a reality again this winter.

School board members reviewed a survey of parents and staff last night (Monday) regarding the use of remote learning when classes are called off due to weather.

Superintendent Terry Brenner says 77% of parents and 89% of employees support remote learning on storm days.

Board member Cynthia Shabb says some families are challenged with remote learning.  “Many of the parents I directly work with don’t have electronic surveys.  My personal experience on remote learning days is that many of those parents were unaware what their children should do.”

Remote learning would kick in starting on day three of cancellations.
