A power outage left around 2,400 Xcel Energy customers in south Grand Forks in the dark early this morning. According to the Xcel outage page the lights went off around 12:35 a.m. Power was restored to most areas a couple hours later. The cause of the outage was not listed but it coincided with a storm system that passed through the region at that same time. A wind gust of 70 plus was recorded at the Grand Forks Airport. Gusts of 50 and 60 mph were common along with brief heavy rains.
