The Grand Forks School Board has agreed to take the next step in finding a fix for the Central High School pool.
Members this week agreed to hire JLG as the Architectural and Engineering firm in charge of recommissioning the shuttered swimming hole. Preliminary estimates suggest the needed improvements could cost between $1 and $3 million dollars.
At least one board member questioned how the city’s proposed aquatics facility might fit into the district’s pool plan. Business Manager Brandon Baumbach says they have discussed the possibility with the city. “We are moving forward with a design firm because the number one priority is to make sure we have water for students next year if Hyslop comes down. If indeed something new comes in like that concept of a facility we would bring that back to the school board to make sure it fits with the calculus.”
A final decision on whether to proceed with the Central pool repairs has not been made.
Meanwhile…the board has also selected EAPC to be the A&E firm for district-wide safety and security updates.
