Fargo voters may get a chance to decide the fate of a .25 sales tax to pay for expansion and renovation of the FAGODOME.
The city commission heard a presentation today (Tuesday) on plans that would add exhibition and conference space to the building. The price-tag is put at roughly $45 million dollars. A remodel of the 30 year old building – complete with a new plaza – would cost another $85 million dollars.
The proposed funding for the project would come via $30 million dollars from the FARGODOME’s permanent fund…a 3% lodging tax over 20 years…and the local sales tax bump for 20 years.
The Fargo City Commission would have to set any election date.
