North Dakota Mineral Resources director Lynn Helms says North Dakota’s May oil production was…flat. It was down by about 2200 barrels a day from April.
Helms says the drilling rig count is now at 36. He says that’s a head-scratcher – because the price of oil is over $70 per barrel. “We are seeing a lot of chatter in the merger and acquisition area and that’s disrupting budgets and the rig count.”
But Helms says 26 frac crews are active in the Bakken – and he says that’s a post-COVID record. “We should see a good jump in production over the summer.”
Helms says in June, DMR permitted the 40-thousandth well in North Dakota.
