Minnesota revenue officials have announced the process to send out one time tax rebates to some 2.4 million Minnesotans. The rebate was part of the tax package approved by lawmakers during the session and signed by Governor Tim Walz.
The department will use tax year 2021 individual income tax or property tax refund returns to determine eligibility.
The rebates are $260 for individuals with adjusted gross incomes of up to $75,000 and $520 for couples who filed jointly with incomes up to $150,000. People within those limits will get an additional $260 per de-pendent for up to three dependents.
The money should be distributed by early fall.

Eligible recipients who have not changed their address or banking information from what was on their 2021 income tax or property tax refund returns do not need to take any action. Taxpayers who are eligible for the rebate and need to update their address or bank information should visit a new online portal at taxrebate.mn.gov by July 28th.
