The search for a new city administrator in East Grand Forks will take a little longer. Interviews with four finalists were cancelled this week after two of the candidates dropped out of the process.
Liza Donabauer with the search firm David Drown Associates updated the city council on the process last night (Tuesday). Donabauer presented members with three options: contacting previous semi-finalist candidates…posting the job again…or waiting until fall to seek additional applicants.
A total of 20 people applied for the position with eight finalists being pushed forward. Three of those have since dropped out. Danabauer says she doesn’t see a need to review the full applicant pool again. “I feel the eight I originally presented are the ones I feel best represented attributes that you were seeking and minimum qualifications.”
City Council President Mark Olstad says he’s not in favor of waiting until after Labor Day to post the position again. “I don’t think we can wait that long. You are looking at possibly not starting until April or May next year.”
The council will hold a special meeting on July 5th to further discuss the hiring process.
