The Grand Forks County Commission is hoping to finalize a land use agreement with the Fair Board ASAP with the pending jail and juvenile detention center construction projects drawing near.
Fair officials have raised concerns over how the construction will impact access to the grounds…the raceway…and parking.
The two sides have been working on a legal document spelling out everything from ownership and access to construction staging and the location of ponds.
Commission Chair Bob Rost says the clock is ticking to get it done. Rost says the board needs to know by next Tuesday’s meeting how to proceed – one way or the other.
Grand Forks States Attorney Haley Wamstad says an 11-year lease is on the table – with a five year option.
