Burgum releases video before expected presidential campaign announcement

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum is expected to launch his presidential campaign on Wednesday, but today (Mon), Burgum released a video, as a preview to his announcement.

The video covers Burgum’s history from his small-town roots, to businessman, to governor.

We need new leadership for our changing economy – innovation over regulation,” Burgum says in the video. “Instead of shutting down American oil and gas, we should unleash energy production and start selling energy to our allies instead of buying it from our enemies.”

Burgum says that after his Wednesday announcement in Fargo, he will visit Iowa on Thursday and Friday, then travel to New Hampshire for events on Saturday and Sunday.

Burgum  will join a crowded Republican field that includes former President Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, U.S. Sen Tim Scott of South Carolina, and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie plans to launch his campaign Tuesday in New Hampshire, and former Vice President Mike Pence will announce his bid Wednesday in Iowa.
