Canadian Pacific emergency response teams and hazardous materials experts remain on the scene of a train derailment in McHenry County (ND).
The rail company says six cars jumped the tracks around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. A locomotive operating toward the rear of the train also derailed.
Three of the containers were carrying mixed goods that included small quantities of products classified as hazardous materials – specifically one container with lithium batteries…one container with air bags…and one container with four small drums of methanol.
A CPKC spokesperson says there are no leaks of any hazardous materials. The diesel fuel from the derailed locomotive was recovered. There were no injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
